Soybean Varieties on the Market/Participating Companies
Better Oil Is on the Market
As part of an effort to efficiently and effectively commercialize new soybean technologies, QUALISOY aids in the marketing of low-linolenic soybean varieties. The oil that is produced from these varieties is in high demand from customers such as the food industry.
Participating organizations include:
- Monsanto VISTIVE™ - A low-linolenic soybean variety developed through conventional breeding that will reduce or eliminate trans fatty acids (trans fats) in processed soybean oil. VISTIVE soybeans, which have the Roundup Ready® trait, contain less than 3 percent linolenic acid, compared with 8 percent for traditional soybeans.

- Pioneer® Low-Linolenic Soybeans – Pioneer markets soybeans with a low-linolenic-acid profile of less than 3 percent and offers better natural stability and increased shelf life through its Pioneer IndustrySelect® program. The resulting oil is marketed through Bunge North America as TREUS™ Low-Linolenic Soybean Oil. When used for frying, low-linolenic oil eliminates the need for partial hydrogenation in some applications.
